CORVID Grow App
CORVID is a cultivation app for Android devices. I initially created it to provide myself with more actionable reports from my Pulse data and keep track of my environment in relation to the cycle the plant is in. If you have a Pulse grow monitor, you just need to connect your API key (instructions in FAQs below) and you’ll be good to go.
This grow app sits on your device, with no connection to any other server other than the Pulse API. So we don’t keep track of any of your data.
So if you’re looking for a way to monitor your environment, in a way that’s a bit different to the native Pulse app – check out CORVID.

Frequently Asked Questions
Installing Corvid
Why isn’t Corvid on the Google Play Store?
Corvid is a free grower’s tool from Seed Stash, shared directly from our website as an Android app file (an APK). Installing it this way takes a couple of extra taps the first time, and the steps are below.
What do I need?
- An Android phone or tablet running Android 7.0 or newer.
- A Pulse One, Pulse Pro or Pulse Zero monitor. Pulse Hub sensors aren’t supported yet.
- Your own Pulse API key (see “Your Pulse API key” below).
Corvid isn’t available for iPhone.
How do I install it?
- On your phone, open this page in Chrome and tap Download.
- If Chrome warns that the file could be harmful, tap Download anyway. Chrome shows this for any app that doesn’t come from the Play Store.
- When the download finishes, tap Open. You can also find the file in your Files or Downloads app.
- If Android says your phone isn’t allowed to install unknown apps from this source, tap Settings. Turn on Allow from this source, then go back.
- Tap Install, then Open.
Google Play Protect says the app is from an unknown developer. What should I do?
Play Protect shows this for apps installed outside the Play Store. Tap More details, then Install anyway. If it offers to scan the app, let it; the scan is free and takes a few seconds.
I have a Samsung and the install is blocked.
Newer Samsung phones have Auto Blocker, which stops installs from outside the stores. Go to Settings → Security and privacy → Auto Blocker, turn it off, install Corvid, then turn it back on.
The file downloaded as a .zip, or my phone can’t open it.
Download it again in Chrome rather than another browser or an in-app browser like Instagram’s or Facebook’s. If it still won’t open, let us know, because it’s usually a setting on our side.
How do I update Corvid?
Download the latest version from this page and install it over the top. Your settings, run history and logs are kept. Only install updates from this page; a file from anywhere else will be refused or could be fake.
Security and privacy
Is it safe to install an app from outside the Play Store?
It’s safe when you trust the source and check the file is genuine. Only download Corvid from this page. After installing, you can switch Install unknown apps off again for Chrome. Corvid doesn’t need it to keep working.
How do I check that my download is genuine?
Each version has a fingerprint, called a SHA-256 checksum. If your file’s fingerprint matches the one below, it’s exactly the file we published.
Version 1.4.0:e443d444419a2dfd10136a4b767a5e7680cf0ac3df994ebe33d0ec0c61bbd3f2
How to check:
- On Android: use any “hash checker” app.
- On Windows: run
certutil -hashfile Corvid-1.4.0.apk SHA256in Command Prompt. - On a Mac: run
shasum -a 256 Corvid-1.4.0.apkin Terminal.
What permissions does Corvid use?
- Internet: to fetch readings from Pulse.
- Network status: to check before polling.
- Notifications: for alerts like condensation risk or the monitor going offline.
- Run after restart: so background checks resume.
It doesn’t ask for your location, camera, microphone, contacts or photos.
What happens to my data?
- No account and no tracking: there’s no sign-up, analytics or ads.
- Your Pulse API key: stored in Corvid’s private storage on your phone.
- Who it talks to: Corvid only talks to Pulse’s servers (api.pulsegrow.com).
- Your grow records: readings, run details and logs stay on your phone. Seed Stash doesn’t receive any of it.
What can someone do with my Pulse API key?
It gives access to your Pulse grow data, so treat it like a password and don’t share it. Corvid only reads data and never changes anything in your Pulse account. If you think your key has been exposed, delete it in your Pulse account and create a new one. Then enter it in Corvid under Settings → Change.
How do I remove Corvid and my data?
In Corvid, open Settings → Delete everything, then uninstall the app as normal. Uninstalling also deletes everything stored on the phone. To keep a copy first, use Settings → Export.
Is Corvid an official Pulse app?
No. Corvid is an independent tool by Seed Stash. It works with Pulse monitors through Pulse’s public API.
Your Pulse API key
Where do I find my Pulse API key?
- Sign in at app.pulsegrow.com/account on a phone or computer.
- Find the API section and create a new key.
- Copy the key and paste it into Corvid’s first screen, then tap Check key.
Which grow should the key be for?
Pulse API keys belong to one grow. Create the key in the grow your monitor is in, or Corvid won’t find it.
Corvid says Pulse didn’t accept my key.
Copy the key again, making sure there are no missing characters. Check it’s from the grow your monitor is in. If you deleted the key in Pulse, create a new one.
Will Corvid use up my Pulse API allowance?
Barely. Corvid checks every 15 minutes, which uses about 100 datapoints a day, around 2% of the smallest Pulse API plan. Loading 24 hours of history during setup is optional and uses about 1,440 datapoints once.
Using Corvid
I’m not getting alerts.
- Alerts on: check Settings → Alerts on this phone is switched on and Android notifications are allowed for Corvid.
- Battery: some phones pause background apps to save battery. Set Corvid to Unrestricted under Settings → Apps → Corvid → Battery.
- Test: use Send a test alert to check alerts are getting through.
Corvid says my monitor is offline.
Corvid can only show what Pulse has received. Check the monitor has power and is on a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, then tap refresh in Corvid.
Does Corvid cost anything?
No, Corvid is free.
