Summary

Headbanger is a popular hybrid of Sour Diesel and Biker Kush by Karma Genetics. This strain's popularity is bolstered by its true Sour Diesel expressions, something growers struggle to find in the modern genetics market. The mouth coating is unbelievable, staining the pallet with citrus, fuel and sometimes a bit of grapefruit.

GROW REVIEW

Out of the pack I ended up flowering out 2 males and 3 females.  Not the largest population.

In flower, they stretched significantly, and as to be expected Sour Diesel leaning plants had quite a bit of stretch in them, well into the third week.

Biker Kush leaners were more branchy and squat while the other side was more vertical in their growth.

Flowering times were quite long, with the quickest plants finishing in 70 days and the longest being able to run to 85 days.

Aromas were a mix of funky fuel, citrus and a bit of grapefruit. But I found the aroma really came out in the cure more.

How Headbanger

Breeds

Selections make the cross, but I ran through the Headbanger F2 population as well as several Headbanger crosses I made.

I found my male to have passed incredible mouth coating throughout most of the progeny. It was the same resinous coating that sisters of the mother cut also possessed.

I’ve found that crossing my select male with Chem and OG types produce great results.

A Connoisseur's

SMOKE REPORT

If you're looking for a smoke that captures the legendary mystique of Sour Diesel, few will get you as close as Headbanger. It blends a citrus, grapefruit profile with funky fuel.

Aroma

Headbanger's terpene profile ranges from citrus and grapefruit to funky and fuel - usually a combination of most.

When grown, she doesn't reek up the room, but once cured up she stands out when cracking the jar. She can fill the room with an earthy funk with a bit of sweetness.

Bag Appeal

Most plants weren't particularly outstanding. True to the nature of original Sour Diesel, the magic isn't in the visuals - it's in the smoke.

The buds are quite sativa-looking and loose. It can give the mistaken impression that the flower is inferior.

Flavour

Here is where Headbanger shines. She smokes with a thick, pillowy smoke that doesn't hit the lungs like OG, instead it's a gentle experience, despite not being particularly 'light'.

The dense smoke covers the pallet and leaves behind a lingering flavour for minutes in some phenotypes.

Dense phenotypes tended to be a bit less flavourful, while Sour Diesel types were the most enjoyable to me, personally.

Potency

Although it's always tough to discuss potency when effects are so subjective. But for me, I found most Headbangers to provide an uplifting and social high.

Many casual smokers find it very potent, but if you're used to smoking a lot of good green weed, then the potency is nothing particularly surprising. Expect enjoyable effects at a minimum.
