Summary

Loud's Tangie is a naartjie-gas clone-only that was found by CapeTownLoud. She has mostly classic Tangie terps to her, but with a layer of fuel that's missing from most Tangie cuts. Since her discovery in circa 2018,  she has since travelled the country and been cultivated by dozens of people and smoked by hundreds.

History & Provenance

CapeTownLoud has been a good buddy of mine for almost a decade now and we discussed the history of this cut a few times.

As I recall it, he purchased some flower which was sold as Orange Diesel and in it found the seed that would then go on to get popped and become Loud's Tangie.

He noted that he strongly believed that the Orange Diesel was unlikely the real thing and was more likely a renamed Tangie. Still, the resulting seed ended up being an improvement on the original flower.

First Hand

GROW REVIEW

I've grown Loud's Tangie several times in the past and she is a solid plant to grow.

By week 3 you will already get a distinct naartjie stem rub. The naartjie terps are very common in Tangie, but with a slightly spicy fuel to it too.

What set her apart for me, from a lot of the other Tangies I had seen, was the trichome coverage. She had pretty long trichome stalks and so the bag appeal was really nice too.

No staking was ever needed on her and yields were moderate. Having seen her grown outdoors, she is also a great outdoor plant that yields well under the African sun.

The real question that needs answering, is whether there is still room for Tangie in 2026 and beyond. Nowadays, these terps are typically paired with striking colours, like in Blockberry. Sells a lot better than Loud Tangie's vibrant green flower.

HOW SHE BREEDS

Above: Pictured is the Loud's Tangie being seeded up in week 4 of flower.

I've made and tested a few different hybrids using this Tangie cut, and what I found was quite interesting. She reliably passes down her frosty coverage. Almost all progeny I ran were iced out.

Tangie terps are often notorious for dominating lines, but with two OG outcrosses (Champawat and then into Hot Lava) - I was able to steer it away from the strong, lineage tangie note.

Below is a image of Tangie x Roasted Garlic Margy that I flowered out.

A Connoisseur's

SMOKE REPORT

This is a love it or hate it strain and as such, I've rated it slightly lower than my personal preferences. Despite being a little more nuanced that some purely citrus profiles, this is far from a deep or dark profile. Don't expect her to knock you out, she has a day-smoke kind of vibe to her.

Aroma

Powerful naartjie profile which smells amazing if you're into citrus, but with a little bit of fuel. Don't expect pure petrol, but there is a hint of that profile that is layered in.

Bag Appeal

While not quite up to par with modern hash strains in bag appeal, she does look very good for green weed. Those who appreciate varying flower expressions may also enjoy the vibrant orange stigma.

Flavour

On the inhale, one gets a fresh blast of naartjies and oranges, with a hint of spice and some fuel. The fuel gives a little kick to the lungs. You'll get a bit of mouth coating that retains the flavour, but not to an exceptional level.

Potency

Don't expect to have your day ruined by this cut. She's honestly a pretty mild high. It's enjoyable for sure, and even creative for many - but it's far from a hard hitter. If you're someone who prefers a more productive effect - she does well there.
